William I. Brumbaugh III

William I. Boomer Brumbaugh III, age 67, of Wilmington, DE passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017. Bill was born in Wilmington, DE, on April 23, 1949, and was a son of the late William I. “Boomer” Brumbaugh, Jr. and Joan V. (Smith) Brumbaugh. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Bill made his career with the State of Delaware, retiring after 30 years of dedicated employment. He enjoyed trapshooting and was an avid golfer. Boomer enjoyed trips to the golf course and riding in his Corvette to the valley. He spent many years dancing on the Jerry Blavat Show and Chavu. Bill was a longtime member of the Eastern Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club, where he made many friends. Above all else, he was a devoted family man who adored spending time with his loved ones. His time spent with his grandchildren was a plus in his life as he acted as a candy man. Bill is survived by his wife, Olive J. (Currinder) Brumbaugh; daughters, Olivia M. Petrovich (Eric) of Souderton, PA and Randi N. Brumbaugh (Chuck) of Wilmington; brothers, David A. Brumbaugh (Fran) of Wilmington and Clifford Brumbaugh (Traci) of Florida; and grandchildren, Nicholas, Adrianah, Dylan and Julianah. Olive would like to thank Dave and Fran Brumbaugh, Marla Lawhorn and Crissy Kissy Finch family for all of their love and support. Special thanks to Zina and Rich Twardus; close friends, Wally, Brownie, Mooney, Huey and DP; Butch and Betsy who are the best neighbors anyone could ask for, as well as, Carol Heinold for the love and support for many years. Boomer’s family would like to offer a special thank you to the VA Hospital, Christiana Care and Manor Care for their assistance through all of his years in pain. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 8:30 am until 10:00 am on Friday morning, January 20, 2017 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE where a funeral service will be held at at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701.
