Wallace Clay Waugh, age 81, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Atlantic Shores Nursing Home in Georgetown, DE. Born on September 30, 1941, he was a son of the late Charles and Mildred Waugh. Throughout his life, Wallace achieved great professional success. He worked diligently for over 45 years at the ICI Chemical Plant, where he became the esteemed supervisor of the Poly’s plant. Wallace was known for his work ethic and dedication, always going the extra mile to ensure the success of his team. Dad’s commitment to providing for his family was unwavering. He worked shift work and put in an ungodly amount of hours, sacrificing his own rest and leisure to ensure his loved ones had everything they needed. Beyond his professional life, Wallace had a profound passion for home improvement. During any free time he had, he would always be found working on various projects, constantly enhancing and adding to the house. His hands-on approach turned the family home into a sanctuary filled with warmth and love. Wallace’s dedication to improving the living space for his family was a testament to his selflessness and care for those he cherished most. After retirement, this passion for home improvement continued to flourish. Wallace found fulfillment and purpose in sharing his expertise with others, dedicating himself to a full-time schedule at his favorite store, Lowes. He generously shared his knowledge and passion, leaving a lasting impact on friends, family, and countless customers who sought his guidance. Wallace was a focused and driven individual, seldom taking breaks or resting before jumping back into work. His dedication to providing for his family was unparalleled, and he served as a great role model for sacrifice and responsibility. One of his cherished life lessons was instilled in his children from an early age. At just 9 years old, when one of his sons wanted to try out for Pop Warner football, he imparted these words: “You can try out for anything that you want in life son, but the one thing you will not do is quit, even if you get your butt kicked, you do not quit.” Wallace Clay Waugh will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of hard work, determination, and love for his family will live on in the hearts of those he touched. Wallace was a devoted husband to Barbara A Waugh, who preceded him in death five years ago. He is survived by his two sons, Raymond and Michael Waugh, and their families. His legacy lives on through his two grandchildren, Peirce and Sebrina, who brought immense joy to his life. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service to celebrate Wallace’s life will begin at 11 am. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and share cherished memories. Interment will be held privately.
