Steven L. "Steve" Faries

Steven L. “Steve” Faries, age 67, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, enjoying the music he loved. Born November 8, 1955, in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late John Morris and Thelma (McGrath) Morris. Steve worked in quality control for PPG Industries. Since he was very young, Steve was an avid watcher of Football and Baseball, bleeding Red and Green for his two Philadelphia teams. He always enjoyed working with his hands, and spent many hours of his off time creating wonderful wood crafts for family and friends. Above all else in his life, the one thing that brought him great joy and peace was of course his guitar. If there were to be anything that truly symbolized Steve, it was the guitar. Growing up, Steve was always a strong, solitary man, who would spend much of his time by himself listening to music while he worked on some project. Even so, he always surrounded himself with only close friends, many of which he would even say were as much family as any of his kin. All of which would tell you, that even when he had his time where he wished only to be left alone to himself, he was also one of the kindest and genuine souls, as well as quite stubborn. A fighter to the very last breath. Even into retirement, Steve could never stay still, always working on a project of some kind, be it fixing up his home, or simply making new wooden figures for whatever holiday was near. Sometimes he would even take time just tinkering with his guitars before playing them. In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his sisters, Patty Fisher (Ralph), and Hope Dallabrida (Doug). He is survived by his children, Tiffany Faries of Wilmington, and Eric Faries of Newark; stepson, Steven Gant (Kristin) of Newark; and siblings, Bobby Faries (Geri) of WA, Bill Morris (Sonnie) of SC, Dwayne Morris (Judy) of Newark, and Vincent Regusters (Tim) of Bear. Instead of simply mourning for Steve, he would want you to remember the times you spent together. Grab yourself a slice of chocolate cake, put on some Eric Clapton, and just be in the moment as you look forward. This is the greatest way to honor his memory, and his life. Bring not flowers of sadness, but feelings of pride. All services will be held privately.
