Born: 2/24/1973 Died: 5/9/2012 Ms. Renee N. Ivey, age 39, of Newark, DE, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2012. Born in Wilmington on February 24, 1973, Renee was a 1991 graduate of William Penn High School and also attended classes at Hodgson Vo-Tech. In her leisure hours, Renee greatly enjoyed reading and her cats, Zoe and Sophie. Most of all, she delighted in spending time with her beloved daughter, Jadyn, whom she adored. She is survived by her mother, Perla M. Halter Ivey (Ray Estes) of Newark; father, Charles G. Ivey of Lumberton, NC; daughter, Jadyn A. Hammett of Newark; her daughter’s father, Shamir Hammett of Bear; sisters, Aimee E. Hartnett (Todd) of Elkton, MD, and Kimberly D. Sulpizi (Robert) of Wilmington; 3 nephews and 5 nieces; her best friend, Megan Parks; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brother, Nathan C. Ivey, in 2010. A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 300 E. Basin Road, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE 19720. Donations will be used for Renee’s memorial fund.
