Otello "Tello" Meucci

Otello “Tello” Meucci, age 93, of Bethany Beach, DE, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, July 7, 2022. Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, he was a son of the late Guiseppe and Niccolina (Niccoli) Meucci. Tello attended Mackin Elementary School and graduated from Coughlin High School. He went on to attend the Boston Conservatory of Music and Boston University. Tello proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He then went on to attend Catholic University. Tello had many professional accomplishments. He began his career in Washington, DC as a music teacher for the public school system. Tello enjoyed his time as Choir and Music Director at Christ United Methodist Church in Landover Hills, MD. He was a salesman for Borg Warner, where he helped develop the System 80 Teaching Machine. He retired from Borg Warner at age 55 in 1984. Tello was very active in the music community throughout his life. He started the Otello Meucci Orchestra while in high school. He was a member of Virginia Grand Military Band, University of Maryland Community Band, Salisbury Symphony Orchestra, Salisbury Community Band, Boston University Alumni Band and the Delmarva Big Band. Tello loved the ocean, tennis, golf, sailing, and bocce ball on the beach. His favorite hobby was spending time with his loving family. Tello had a big smile and a bigger heart! In addition to his parents, Tello was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Meucci and first wife, Joyce Meucci. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Gail (Kauffman) Meucci; loving children, Laura Hicks (Bill), Janet Mills, Matthew Meucci (Karen), Scott Gore (Larissa), Sharon Rubin (Ed), Tom Gore (Annette), and Brian Gore (Lisa Moore) and grandchildren; Kelly, Jeremy, Jessica, Ryan, Dante, Cara, Elle, Savannah, Joshua, Derek, Nathan, Ulyana, Genevieve, Ksenia, Thaddeus, Julie, Katelyn, Tanner, Sydney, Alex, Serena, and Jordan and great-grandchildren; Micah, Caleb, Aidan, Ayla, Atticus, Soren, Carson, and Rylee. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 pm until 3 pm on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE where a memorial service will begin at 3 pm. A second memorial service will be in the fall in Bethany Beach. Interment will be held later.
