Mark A. Breeding

Mark A. Breeding, age 65, of Delaware City, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, April 23, 2022. Born in Wilmington, DE, on February 20, 1957 he was a son of the late Ander F. and Catherine (Pasquino) Breeding. Mark graduated from Gunning Bedford High School and proudly served his country in the United States Merchant Marines and the United States Navy, where he was awarded a DD-214. He was stationed overseas for many years, once he returned back to the States, he was stationed at the Philadelphia Naval Yard and he retired in 1995 after 20 years of service. After his retirement Mark worked for security at Dade Behring retiring in 2010 after 15 years of service. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing and playing golf. Mark was very active in his community, and held many leadership and elected positions. He was a member of the Lions club, and very active member of the Philadelphia Navy Federal Department. He joined the Delaware City Fire Company, Station 15 in May of 1973 and over his 49 years as a loyal member he served in many capacities, including, Board of Director, Fire Police and had the distinction of serving as our first Marine Captain. He served on many committees throughout the years, Co-Chairman of the Bar Committee, serving in this capacity for close to 15 years. He put a lot of time, effort and love into serving on the Bar Committee. In recognition to his faithful service with the Fire Police over the years, in which he would also be one of the Top Responders, Mark was bestowed with the title of Fire Police Emeritus in 2019, becoming the 2nd member to be recognized with this prestigious honor. In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his brothers, Wayne Breeding and David Breeding. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Julita (Mangubat) Breeding; loving children, Laura Covert (Dale), and Ander F. Breeding II; granddaughters, Julieta Covert, and Paige Covert; great granddaughter, Karaline; and siblings, Ander Rick (Connie), Laura Rafine, Louise Paiper, and Robert (Tami). A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1 pm until 2 pm on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at the Delaware City Fire Company, Station 15, 815 5th Street, Delaware City, DE, where a Funeral Service will follow at 2 pm. Interment will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
