Lorena Partin Peace

Born: 1/12/1922 Died: 1/19/2012 Mrs. Lorena Partin Peace, age 90, of Dover, DE, formerly of Newark, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2012. Mrs. Peace was born in Chenoa, KY, on January 12, 1922, daughter of the late Patrick J. Partin and Lilly Owens Partin. A gifted homemaker throughout her life, she delighted in caring for her family, especially her beloved grandchildren, whom she adored. Her happiest times were spent in the company of her family; over the years, she particularly enjoyed hosting large and joyous family gatherings. In the past week, Mrs. Peace was the special guest at the very first birthday party she had ever had, in honor of her 90th birthday. She loved every minute of the celebration and was so very pleased to be among the many people who loved her. Among her many talents, Mrs. Peace was a skillful seamstress and quilter. She was an exceptional baker, giving delicious loaves of her special breads as gifts each Christmas. She enjoyed gardening and was well known for the beautiful flowers she cultivated each year around her home. In her later years, Mrs. Peace was very fond of trying her luck at Delaware Park and Dover Downs. The casinos often gave her gift certificates for her birthday, which she found great fun to use. An animal lover from her childhood, she had a special fondness for dogs and cats. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 71 years, Chester Peace, a daughter, Audrey Powell, grandchildren, Rodger Breeding, Jr. and Bonnie Lister; and great granddaughter, Kirsten Peace. She is survived by her children, Eloise Rust of Dover, Wayne Peace (Edith) of Wilmington, Zella Breeding (Rodger) of Dunn, NC, and Stanley Peace of Wilmington; sisters, Lucille Nibert and Louise Worthing (Cloyse) of Delaware, OH, Rasby Day of Harrogate, TN, and Marlie Powell of Hollywood, FL; brother, Floyd Partin of Columbus, OH; 10 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, January 24, 2012, in the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 1 pm. Interment will follow in the adjoining memorial park. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Peace may be made to Seasons Hospice of Delaware, 220 Continental Drive, Ste. 101, Newark, DE 19713.
