Leslie Ann "LB" Baker

Leslie Ann “LB” Baker, age 37, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on Thursday, June 10, 2021. Born in Wilmington, DE, on January 10, 1984, she was a daughter of the late Ethel L. (Miller) and Grover W. Baker, Jr. She is survived by her siblings, Torie MacNamara (Timothy), Anthony Baker (Jordan), and Gerald Baker; and her nieces and nephews, Gavan, Quinn, Giada, GW, Bair, Van; and her adored AV. Leslie was an opinionated, tattooed champion of the people. Prior to being the “boss of her ovarian cancer” and all things that came along with it, she was a Program Manager for Brandywine Counseling and Community Services. Whether it was during her time at BCCS, when advocating for medical marijuana, or when a stranger, who then became a dear friend or “family member” didn’t know how to navigate their own medical diagnoses, she found her calling by being an ear, shoulder, and voice to help others find their path to healing and wholeness. Leslie’s unconventional humor and willingness to be transparent with all things in her life always lightened the mood and put a smile on people’s faces. She was an avid collector of many things, but most treasured to her were her sneakers, graphic t’s, her tattoos, and all things Apple. She loved being Leslie B. Gangsta on the roller derby track. Leslie loved her travels to Arizona, Las Vegas, California, Florida, and CancerCon conferences in Denver. Her most important job was under the title Gigi. She loved living and visiting with her nieces and nephews and seeing them during FaceTime check-ins. Leslie was so proud of their accomplishments and that they were “good kids.” She loved being able to see glances of them through social media. And she loved holding them in her arms and giving kisses. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 pm until 7 pm on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE, where a memorial service will be held at 7 pm. Face coverings will be required for all those in attendance not immunized with the COVID-19 vaccine per the CDC and Governor of Delaware. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Leslie’s memory to the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center, c/o Christiana Care, P.O. Box 1668, Wilmington, DE 19899.
