Kelly L. "Chubes" Czarnecki

Kelly L. “Chubes” Czarnecki, age 43, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2022. Born in Wilmington, DE, on July 28, 1979, she was the daughter of the late Joyce M. (Subach) Thompson and John J. Czarnecki. Kelly attended her beginning high school years at St. Mark’s. She later attended John Dickinson High School. Kelly completed her education by earning a GED. For some time, she served as a Short Sale Negotiator and quickly became promoted as a Quality Assurance Representative at Bank of America. Kelly loved the game of softball. She began t-ball at the early age of 6 and continued the game of softball throughout high school. Her father, John, helped instill qualities in her that any athlete should embody: competitiveness, persistence and confidence. He made sure Kelly stayed “game ready” whether it was running laps up hills or attending private lessons. It paid off, as Kelly became one of the top pitchers in the state of Delaware. Kelly proudly wore number 16 and played for various teams such as Lil Crush, the St. Mark’s Spartans, and The Midway Orange Crush travel team. Kelly helped lead her teams to the 1991 ASA girl’s fastpitch national championship, the 1995 ASA Central Atlantic Regional Championship and many more season wins. Kelly lit up any room she entered and you were sure to laugh and have a good time when she was around. She was known for her bubbly personality, being the life of the party, and those 1980s bangs that she would never cut! Kelly was a lover of Halloween, Christmas, the beach, scary movies, going crabbing with her dad, getting her nails done, and eating her favorite foods-Arbys, Taco Bell, and crabs. She was a die-hard Eagles fan just like her mom. She loved and cherished her time spent with her pop-pop, “Bub” and mom-mom, Mary. In her free time, Kelly enjoyed eating string cheese while watching all things murder mystery; Law & Order, CSI, and the Investigation Discovery Channel. She liked taking long car rides and listening to R&B, rap, and Motown. Her favorite movies included The Sweetest Thing, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and My Big Fat Greek Wedding. She was a frequent St. Anthony’s Italian Festival goer, where she enjoyed bringing home Italian water ice, sausage with peppers and onions, tomato pie and a new “I love being Italian” key chain. “Arrivederci!” Kelly would always say. Out of everything, nothing topped the love she had for her girls. The hardships in her life that some people will never understand did not always allow her to be the person and mother she wanted, but she still loved her children mightily. She would be sure to brag about her daughters any chance she got, posting photos of them on Facebook or telling her co-workers and friends all about their accomplishments. Kelly enjoyed getting Teaunah and Toni every and anything they wanted for Christmas as little girls. She strived to be the “cool mom” who had the best sleepovers, made forts, ate junk food and stayed up extra late. Kelly was most proud of Teaunah earning her Master’s degree and watching Toni follow in her own footsteps as an amazing athlete and softball player. Kelly was strong, kind-hearted, non-judgmental and a loyal friend. May she always be remembered as such. Kelly is survived by her loving children, Teaunah Moulden, Samuel Lewis, and Toni Lopez; father, John Czarnecki (Brenda); brother, Zachary Czarnecki; special cousin, Re-A Neal; and a host of friends. She is preceded in death by her mother, Joyce (Subach) Thompson; grandfather, John “Bub” Czarnecki; grandmother, Mary (Flora) Czarnecki; and aunt, Patricia “Patsy” Harrison. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Monday, December 19, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 11 am. Interment will be held privately.
