Kathleen Margaret (Markey) Harris

Kathleen Margaret (Markey) Harris, age 49, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 3, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. A native of Delaware, Kathleen was born in Wilmington on August 26, 1966, and was the daughter of Robert Alexander and Violet Anne (Morrison) Markey. She made her career as a customer service representative with JP Morgan Chase, fomerly the Bank of New York, for more then 25 years. Kathleen enjoyed going to the beach where her parents reside. She was a fantastic baker and relished creating delicious homemade treats for her loved ones. Kathleen was a wonderful daughter, mother, sister and adoring grandmother to her loving grandsons. Above all else, she was an exceptionally caring and giving individual and to honor her legacy, her family made the difficult, yet generous decision to allow Kathleen to be an organ donor for the Gift of Life Program. Her unconditional love will live on through the lives of others. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Michael Eugene Harris who died in 2014 and her grandmother, Margaret Memom Markey in 2013. Kathleen is survived by her daughters, Colleen Harris (Jamar) and Kassandra Harris; brothers, Dennis Markey and David Markey (Kelle); special cousin, Angela; best friend, Mari Jo; 2 precious grandsons, Cameron and Jamarion, whom she affectionately called Sunshine #1 and Sunshine #2; her 2 goddaughters, Emma and Kerry; several nieces/nephews; family and friends; and her extended family in Ireland. Kathleen’s family would like to offer a special thank you to all of the nurses and staff at Christiana ICU, as well as to Sue and Pam and the staff of Seasons Hospice at Christiana Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion during her final days. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Monday afternoon, January 11, 2016, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 12 Noon until 1 pm. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Flowers would be appreciated or contributions in Kathleen’s memory may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
