Judith K. Robinson

Judith K. Robinson, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and math teacher extraordinaire, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2020, after a brief illness. While she was 76 at the time, she had the fieriness of a forty-year-old. Born in Lewiston, NY, to Freda and Leo, Judith loved sharing stories about growing up near the Falls, like trekking sparklers across the border, attending a one-room school and going to the local fish fry. A proud granddaughter of immigrants, she also regaled her family with their tales of making their way to America. While Judith never forgot her Western NY roots (Go Bills!), she moved on to attend SUNY at Albany and then the Ohio State University. She stood out as one of the few women in her program, where she earned a Master’s Degree in Mathematics. Spending days in the library studying and nights eating PB&J, Judith used her degree to share her love of math with others. Her marriage to Keith in 1967, whom Judith met in second grade before becoming high school sweethearts, saw them moving first to New Jersey, then on an odyssey to Delaware, Pennsylvania, Chicago and back to Delaware. Along the way they shared a love for new cuisines, traveling, gardening, dogs, relaxing on the beach and going to the theater. They especially bonded over baseball (Go Phillies!), looking forward to the start of spring training every year. Judith championed her daughters’ passions too, whether sewing dance costumes or cheering at cross-country and track & field events. A big supporter of her grandchildren, she attended as many baseball games, performances, and school events as possible. In every place Judith lived, she got involved in the community and modeled for them a life of giving back. As a teacher, her career included stints in community college, tutoring home-bound students, and even working in a preschool. Her favorite grade, though, was middle school, where she excelled in getting her students to see the beauty of math (as well as handling the tricky preteen years). And due to helping her daughters and grandchildren with their math studies, she also indirectly tutored many of their friends and classmates. Judith leaves behind her beloved family, including her husband of 53 years, Keith; daughters, Jennifer (Dave) and Stacey (Eric); grandchildren, Sabrina and Alex; brother, Dennis (Pam); and numerous nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. All services will be held privately.
