JoyceAnn Myslewicz

JoyceAnn Myslewicz, age 71, of Newark, DE, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Reading, PA on December 8, 1946, she was a daughter of Arline (Weber) and the late James Yondura. Joyce attended the Temple University School of Nursing, then Delaware Technical Community College, graduating in 1997 with her RN degree. She later earned her BSN from Immaculata University. Joyce worked for Newark ER, Tad Wakamatsu, MD, Brian Smale, MD, St. Francis Hospital and Christiana Hospital, where she retired in 2009. Passionate about her career she taught Clinical Nursing classes for Del Tech and was a substitute nurse for Hodgson and St. George’s Vo-Tech schools. Active in her community, Joyce was a member of the Registered Nursing Association & Order of the Eastern Star of Delaware. She was a Past Worthy Matron of Newark, Chapter #10 and Caesar Rodney Chapter #8, Past Worthy Grand Matron of the State of Delaware in 1992 and active in the General Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. Joyce enjoyed bowling weekly with the Blue Hen Ladies on Monday evening and the Blue Hen Seniors on Wednesday afternoon. She also loved to cook, especially Polish food, spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, camping, reading and solving crossword puzzles. Joyce is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, Walter M. Myslewicz; daughter, Deborah Siefer (Robert) of Wilmington; son, Michael Myslewicz (Lorie) of Townsend; mother, Arline Francis of Vineland, NJ; siblings, Mary Edwards (Kent) of Millville, NJ and James Yondura (Polly) of Leesburg, NJ; sisters-in-law, Carolann Middleton and Rosemarie Hartnett; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Paul, James, Jessica, Jacob and Zachary; great grandchildren, Gavyn, Patrick, Keegan, Madison and Mason; and canine companion, Roscoe. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where an Order of the Easter Star service will begin at 7:30 pm. A second visitation will be the following morning from 10 am until 11 am with a funeral service at 11 am. Interment will follow in White Clay Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 15 Polly Drummond Hill Road, Newark, DE. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joyce’s name to Salvation Army, 400 N. Orange St, Wilmington, DE 19801.
