John G. Seador

John G. Seador, age 50, of Newark, Delaware, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania on Friday, June 6th, 2014. He was born in Wilmington, Delaware on July 11, 1963 to John L. and Maureen Seador. He was a graduate of Newark High School and attended the University of Delaware and Delaware Technical and Community College. John spent the last 29 years as an employee of Kenneth G. Lilly Fasteners where he started in the warehouse and worked his way up to Director of Purchasing. John always enjoyed working on household projects, but he seemed to get the most satisfaction from helping others work on their projects. He was always a tinkerer, a woodworker and an admirer of great craftsmanship. John was a Life Member of Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder Company, active in local Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop 56, participated in his son’s Newark American Little League team, his son’s and daughter’s Odyssey of the Mind team, and even Big Brothers when he was younger. He immersed himself into the fabric of Newark United Methodist Church, taking on any task, duty or chore that was offered to him “ he just could not say no. Although John could always spare time for others, his greatest passion was spending time with his best friend and wife of 20 years, Debbie, and their two children, Selby and Noah. John took great joy in watching all aspects of his children’s growth and maturity. He never missed an opportunity to attend their chorus, band and orchestra concerts, plays, sports banquets and awards ceremonies, or any special event in which they may have been involved. He would bend time to make sure he was in attendance. John was pre-deceased by his father John L. but is survived by his mother, Maureen; brothers Tom and his wife Carol of Nashville, TN; Dan and his wife Monica, sisters Kathi Weston and her husband Jay, and his twin sister Reenie Hitchens and her husband Karl, all of Newark. Additionally, John is survived by numerous aunts and uncles, along with nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by all. His family would like to thank all of the medical staff in the cardiac ICU, cardiovascular center and the transplant team at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for John’s extraordinary clinical care and the daily compassion with which they treated him and his family. Services will be held at Newark United Methodist Church, 69 East Main Street in Newark, Delaware on Wednesday, June 11th. Visitation will be held at 1pm followed immediately by a short memorial service at 2pm and reception in Heritage Hall. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Boy Scouts of America, Del-Mar-Va Council, 100 W. 10th St., Suite 915, Wilmington, DE 19801 or to the Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder Company, P.O. Box 148, Newark, DE 19715.
