John W. McQueen

John W. McQueen passed away peacefully on May 18, 2020, at the age of 87 years. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret S. McQueen. John is survived by two daughters, Kellie McQueen and Linda Mathews (Bill). He was deeply loved and will forever be remembered by his grandsons Andrew and Colin McKeefery. John is also survived by his siblings and family in the United States and Scotland. He will truly be missed and always in our hearts. John was thoughtful, kind, had a generous spirit, was a true gentleman, lover of Robert Burns poetry, proud of his Scottish heritage & family, and a true Phillies and Eagles fan. He was a proud American and loved living the American Dream. Heartfelt thanks to the Lehigh Avenue neighbors and friends for providing a lifetime of memories and love. We thank you for keeping a neighborly eye on him in the later years. It was difficult to retire from the yardwork he loved, but your assistance in helping cut the grass was thoughtful and appreciated. The family extends much love to his work family at Mitchell Associates. John loved his trade, work and coworkers immensely. He was a dedicated, hardworking employee who really valued and respected the company and all those he worked beside throughout the years. After retirement, John continued to share fond memories and company stories. Thank you to special friends Erik & Will for visits to the shop and all the cheesesteak lunches, Bill Conroy for continued telephone calls to talk about Eagles football and visiting when in town and Joey D for providing the pool pass, new zip code and encouraging him to share stories from the old country. Throughout the years your friendships provided a lot of laughs, support and joy. You held a special place in Dad’s heart. Our family would also like to extend sincere gratitude to Dr. Wasif Queshi, Dr. Alex Bianchi, Dr. Magid Hosney and their staff for their never ending thoughtful, compassionate and exceptional medical care and support. We appreciate you and your staff treating our father with such respect and kindness, just as you would your own family member. Due to the current COVID restrictions, no formal service will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers we appreciate donations to a charity of your choice in his name.
