Danny "Dan" Ray Rankin, Jr.

Danny “Dan” Ray Rankin, Jr., loving husband and father, age 40, of Townsend, DE, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. Born in Wilmington, DE on August 1, 1983, he was a son of Danny R. Rankin, Sr. and Sandra Hurd. Dan was the proud owner of Kirkin Exteriors in New Castle. He was a passionate, self-made, entrepreneur who worked hard to provide for his family. Dan’s drive and relentless determination lead him to be successful in all avenues of his life. He truly enjoyed every aspect of his work and through it all, always seemed easy going and relaxed. Dan loved to talk business to anyone who would listen. An inspiration to his peers, he spent countless hours mentoring others to help them achieve their best. If there was a way for Dan to lend a helping hand to anyone, he would do it. He had a deep dedication to health and fitness, and participating in physically challenging events. In his spare time, Dan liked shooting guns, traveling to new places, and being a Delaware Wrestling Alliance board member. Additionally, he had a fascination and love for turtles. His spirit of devotion and resilience helped him thrive in any situation. Dan loved being out of his comfort zone and achieving the impossible. A true family man, he loved his wife and best friend, Danielle, and treasured the memories he made with her and their children. Dan is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Danielle L. (Pritchard) Rankin; father, Danny R. Rankin, Sr. (Lisa); mother, Sandra Hurd; mother-in-law, Tina Succarotte; children, Danny Rankin III, Delani Rankin, Maribel Hernandez-Rankin, and Rosario Rankin; “bonus” son, Joseph Taylor (Alexis); siblings, Jenna Tolar (Shawn), Jacob Rankin, and Daniel Wiley; brother-in-law, Santino Succarotte; niece, Logan Tolar; nephew, Evan Tolar; step-siblings, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 1 pm on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 1 pm. Interment will be held privately. Additional seating for guests will be available at the Townsend Fire Hall, 107 Main Street, Townsend, DE, where a livestream of the service can be viewed.
