Charles D. "Douglas" Warmack

Charles D. “Douglas” Warmack, age 81, of Middletown, DE, passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2021. Born in Abbeville, AL on September 29, 1939, he was the second child of the late Mike and Leanna (Kennedy) Warmack. When Douglas was six years old, his family relocated from Abbeville to Utica, NY. He graduated from Utica Free Academy. Douglas proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1958 until 1962, when he was honorably discharged. After his service, he graduated from Utica College of Syracuse. Douglas was very proud of this accomplishment because he achieved his degree while working and attending school full time. In 1967, he began employment with IBM, spending the majority of his career in management before retiring in 1999 after 32 years of service. In April 1978, he married Dorothy Richburg and they maintained a loving and wonderful union until his death. In his spare time, he loved to Barbecue (ribs were a specialty), play golf, and follow harness racing. He also loved to travel the world with a special group of friends known as “The Posse”. He also loved to dispense words of wisdom to his children and grandchildren whether it was wanted or not. We will all miss that. His favorite past time of all was being “Pop-pop” to his 10 grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Douglas was preceded in death by his sisters, Venetta Clark and Jessie Warmack. He leaves to cherish in his memory his wife of 43 years, Dorothy Geneva (Richburg) Warmack; children, Dana Kimbrough (Jessie), Mark Douglas Warmack (Bailey), Steven Freeman (Dayna), and Paula Baynard (Sean); brother, William “Bill” Warmack (Pat) of Sterling, NH; 10 grandchildren, Tyler, Cameron, Kyra, Jaden, Justin, Naomi, Lauryn, Kaia, Quincy, and Zoe; and many nieces and nephews. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Christ the Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 3135 Summit Bridge Road, Bear, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Face coverings will be required for all those in attendance not immunized with the COVID-19 vaccine per the Governor of Delaware. Interment will be held privately.
