Carmelita "Carmie" Weimer

Carmelita “Carmie” Weimer, age 88, of Middletown, DE, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 9, 2021. Born in Mt. Savage, MD on January 22, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Gertrude (Witt) Robertson. Carmie worked as a meat packer for Shop Rite, retiring after 31 years of service in 1990. Strong in her faith, she was a senior group member of 63 years at Christiana United Methodist Church. In her spare time, she also attended the Newark Senior Center, and enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Royden W. Weimer; daughter, Maureen Herbein; siblings, Shirley Glotfelty, Margareta Binns, and Charles Robertson; and great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Herbein. Carmie is survived by her daughter, Sheila Hampel (Jay) of Middletown; siblings, Julia Walker of Cumberland, MD, Patsy Yommer (Charles) of Grantsville, MD, Gertrude Negley of Oakland, MD, James Robertson (Patricia) of Dumfries, VA, Calleen Rogers (Greg) of Myrtle Beach, VA, and Rose Marie Weimer of Sinking Springs, PA; 4 grandchildren, Christopher Herbein (Megan), Daniel Herbein (Shana), Joseph Hampel (Skyler), and Alexander Hampel (Kate); and 4 great-grandchildren, Kyle, Landen, Addison, and Rowan. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 am until 11:30 am, on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a funeral service will be held at 11:30 am. The family requests that face coverings be worn by all those in attendance regardless of vaccination status. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE. The family would like to thank and recognize the nurses and staff at Complete Care at Brackenville Nursing Home and Bayada Hospice for the love, compassion, and care provided the last 6 months.
