Ann C. Spence Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Born: Died: 6/12/2010 Mrs. Ann C. Spence, age 91, of Bear, DE, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 12, 2010. She had been a patient at Heartland Hospice House. A native Delawarean, Mrs. Spence was born in Wilmington on August 8, 1918, daughter of the late Catherine and Stephen Dalecki. She was married to Ernest S. Spence, Jr. for 69 years until his death in 2002. Mrs. Spence was a devoted homemaker and hosted many family outings, entertaining her beloved grandchildren at her swimming pool and summer home in Broadkill Beach. She dedicated many years of service to the Immanuel Episcopal Dining Room during A Day in Old New Castle and also enjoyed the Womens Bible Study Group while an active member of the Red Lion Evangelical Free Church. An avid Elvis fan from the beginning of his career, Mrs. Spence was delighted to have been able to visit Graceland with her family. She will be remembered always for the great strength, love, and support she gave to her family and she will be dearly missed by the many people who loved her. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Edward Dalecki, grandson, David W. Spence, and great grandson, Ernest S. Spence V. She is survived by her children, Ernest S. Spence III, Terry R. Spence, Gary R. Spence, and Patricia A. Browan; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.
