Ann L. (Jamison) Watson

Ann L. (Jamison) Watson, age 79, of Bear, DE passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, May 24, 2022. Born in York, PA, on November 13, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Willard Gates Jamison and Betty L. (Billet) Spangler. Ann was a dedicated mother, wife, and homemaker. Ann met her husband Robert Watson (Butch) on a blind date that was, let’s just say, quiet. A year had passed, and their best friends planned a second double date. This time it was a competitive bowling matchup that Ann won. It was a perfect game between them which led to a loving marriage of 55 years. Ann graduated Goldey-Beacon College with an associate’s degree. She gave birth to her son, George D. Watson, on September 11th, 1978, whom she loved and cared for every day of her life. She had a gift of creativity. Some of her amazing talents included writing cards with calligraphy style handwriting and pairing those thoughtful cards with meaningful gifts. Cooking delicious and healthy meals every day for her family and for holiday gatherings was one of her favorite things to do, and she did it well. Ann enjoyed reflecting on her daily thoughts while gardening and bird watching on the porch. Ann and Butch shared many memories at their beach house in Lewes, DE including dining at their favorite restaurants and shopping in the local stores. It was her home away from home where she enjoyed many sunsets with a glass of wine. Jake, Ann’s dog, was her best friend and would follow her everywhere. Many people described Ann as classy, always dressing for the occasion, and looking younger by the year. Hunter and Dexter, Ann’s grandsons, were the biggest blessings in her life. Whether you met her once or knew her for 30 years, she had so much love in her heart and cared for everyone. Ann had a special way of saying goodbye, she would say, “I tuck you in my heart”. Her heart was filled with joy everyday of her life and she will be missed by so many people, especially her son, who knew he had the best mom. The ones who love her all have her tucked in their hearts forever. In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her father, Henry C. Spangler; and brother, Jeffrey C. Spangler. She is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Robert L. Watson; loving son, George D. Watson; daughter-in-law, Haley H. Watson; nieces, Katherine Spangler, and Christina Spangler; sister-in-law, Patricia Searle Spangler (fiancé Kevin Ludlow); uncle, David Billet (wife Barbara); and grandsons, Dexter D. Watson, and Hunter H. Watson. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:30 pm until 5:30 pm on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 5:30 pm.
