Anita F. Garvey

Anita F. Garvey, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, April 10, 2022, at the age of 66, after a courageous battle with cancer. In true Anita fashion, she fought stubbornly until the very end. She was born on June 18, 1955, in Wilmington, DE to the late Floyd and Florence (McCallister) France. Anita made her career as a legal secretary for Richards, Layton & Finger for 28 years. She enjoyed reading, baking, watching Hallmark movies, and spending quality time with her family and friends. Anita, who was fondly known as “Aunt Neet,” will be remembered for her infectious laugh and her love of dancing to the oldies, especially the “Electric Slide.” In addition to her parents, Anita was preceded in death by her loving husband of 15 years, Robert Brent Garvey, and her in-laws, Robert and Marie Garvey. She is survived by her three children, Kimberly Garvey, Robert J. Garvey, and Stephanie Baker; brother, Donald France (Sharon); sisters, Linda Lowe and Debbie McCall (Chuck); grandson, Brent Baker, who was the light of her life; granddog, Rocky; several nieces and nephews; and numerous friends who will miss her dearly. The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to Anita’s colleagues and bosses, especially Fred Cottrell, for the support and friendship they have shown over the years. The family would also like to thank the staff at Helen F. Graham Cancer Center and Delaware Hospice for the nurturing care they provided and compassion they showed during Anita’s illness. To Anita’s friends, there are too many to name, please know that she considered you family and was grateful for your encouraging words and thoughtfulness. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 12 noon on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE 19720. A funeral service will follow immediately beginning at 12 noon. Interment will be held privately.
